Bottom-ranked Academik Plovdiv (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-72 loss to top-ranked Rilski (4-0) in Plovdiv. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The other American import Jalen Jenkins (201-94, college: George Mason) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian-Italian center Peter Olisemeka (204-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and American guard Daishon Knight (185-91, college: Illinois St.) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Academik Plovdiv. Rilski have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Levski Lukoil. Academik Plovdiv at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Yambol. Rilski will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Academik Plovdiv will play on the road against Academic Sofia (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
