Regular Season Round 6: Hamburg - Uni Baskets 95-68

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Uni Baskets (3-3) were rolled over on the road by third ranked Hamburg (4-1) 95-68 on Saturday. Hamburg dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Uni Baskets' 34. They outrebounded Uni Baskets 37-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hamburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Uni Baskets' players. American Beau Beech (206-94, college: N.Florida) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Jannik Freese (211-86) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Hamburg players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Grant Benzinger (190-96, college: Wright St.) with 16 points and his fellow American import guard Demetrius Ward (188-90, college: W.Michigan) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hamburg maintains third position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader Chemnitz. Loser Uni Baskets dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. Hamburg will face Artland Dragons (#8) in Quakenbrueck in the next round where they are favorite. Uni Baskets will play on the road against Baunach and hope to win that game.
