Regular Season Round 7: Koblenz - Giessen 88-68

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Koblenz as it allowed them to take a leadership position in South-West. Koblenz smashed 6th ranked Giessen Pointers at home 88-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Giessen Pointers. Koblenz forced 23 Giessen Pointers turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for Lithuanian point guard Julius Zurna (188-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 9 assists. Guard Deon McDuffie (186-93, college: Rattelsdorf) helped adding 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Koblenz players scored in double figures. At the losing side Dominik Turudic (202-94) responded with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American swingman Christopher Miller (192-93, college: Salem Intern.) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Koblenz. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Speyer. Newly promoted Giessen Pointers dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Langen. Giessen Pointers will play next round against Mannheim trying to get back on the winning streak. Koblenz will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Kaiserslautern on the road.
