There was no surprise in Cluj Napoca where bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj (0-4) was crushed by top-ranked Targu Jiu (4-0) 91-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Targu Jiu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Targu Jiu outrebounded Univ.Cluj 40-19 including a 30-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American center Kevin Allen (211, college: Emporia St., agency: Haylett Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Adrian Rosu (198-91) chipped in 17 points. Vlad Porime (185-0) produced 10 points and 4 assists and Radu Birlean added 11 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Targu Jiu have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Univ.Cluj at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with four games lost. Targu Jiu will face Targu Mures (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Univ.Cluj will play against Miercurea Ciuc (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
