No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Hertener Loewen (4-1) crushed on the road 13th ranked Leverkusen FB (1-5) 94-69 on Saturday. Hertener Loewen dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Leverkusen FB's 32. Hertener Loewen forced 19 Leverkusen FB turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Leverkusen FB was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Naturalized American Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Hertener Loewen players scored in double figures. Swingman Sven Hartmann (189-88) answered with 18 points and center Adrian Brueckmann (203-91) added 9 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Leverkusen FB. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hertener Loewen moved-up to third place in West, which they share with Herford. Leverkusen FB lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Hertener Loewen will face Hagen BG (#5) on the road in the next round. Leverkusen FB will play against Salzkotten (#14) and hope to win that game.
