Regular Season Round 8: Kharkivski Sokoly - SumDU 100-92

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Kharkivski Sokoly (4-1) beat at home 8th ranked SumDU (1-6) 100-92 on Saturday. SumDU trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 32-24 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 92-100 at the end of the game. Kharkivski Sokoly dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to SumDU's 36 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Kharkivski Sokoly looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. SumDU was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sergiy Olkhovikov (186-91) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Roman Olkhovskyi (196-90) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Kharkivski Sokoly's coach Oleg Manoylenko used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Vitaliy Ignatchenko (188-91) responded with 27 points and point guard Igor Starodub (187-97) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Kharkivski Sokoly and five SumDU players scored in double figures. Kharkivski Sokoly have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader Prometey, which they share with Niko-Basket. SumDU lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Kharkivski Sokoly will face league's second-placed KDPU in Kryvyi Rih in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SumDU will play at home against the league's leader Prometey (#1) and hope to win that game.
