Regular Season Round 6: Trier - Phoenix Hagen 76-73

Thirteenth-ranked Phoenix Hagen (1-4) gave a tough game to second ranked Gladiators (5-1) in Trier on Saturday. Gladiators managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Jamaican-Canadian forward Jermaine Bucknor (201-83, college: Richmond) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kevin Smit (183-91) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Gladiators' coach Christian Held used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Kris Davis (188-93, college: SIU Edwardsville) with 21 points and his fellow American import center Alex Herrera (206-92, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gladiators maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Chemnitz. Phoenix Hagen lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Ehingen. Gladiators are looking forward to face MLP Academics Heidelberg (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Phoenix Hagen will play against Lions and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
