Regular Season Round 7: Kronberg - Kaiserslautern 101-73

There was an upset when higher ranked Kaiserslautern (2-4) was smashed on the road by fourteenth ranked Kronberg (1-5) 101-73 on Saturday. Kronberg outrebounded Kaiserslautern 38-22 including a 28-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 62.1 percentage. Kronberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for Felix Hecker (192-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Daniel Medo (197-95) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Kronberg players scored in double figures. American forward John Barber (200-85, college: Youngstown St.) answered with 18 points and Hungarian guard Gergely Hosszu (190-86) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Kaiserslautern. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kronberg left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place in South-West, which they share with HAKRO Merlins II. Loser Kaiserslautern keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Kronberg will face higher ranked Mainz (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
