Regular Season Round 8: Zalgiris II - Gargzdu 61-91

We should mention about the upset which took place in Kaunas, where higher ranked Zalgiris II (4-3) was outleveled at home by tenth ranked Gargzdu (4-4) 91-61 on Saturday. Gargzdu looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Zalgiris II's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Simonas Serapinas (197-82) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and forward Laurynas Lucinskas (201-93) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and Estonian point guard Kerr Kriisa (185) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gargzdu moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Silute and Perlas. Loser Zalgiris II keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Neptunas-Akv.. Gargzdu will meet at home higher ranked Palanga (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zalgiris II will play against Ereliai Mazeikiai and hope to secure a win.
