Regular Season Round 4: Mustangs - Blackbirds 75-81

Another exciting game was played in Mistelbach between third ranked Blackbirds and 6th ranked Mustangs where Blackbirds (3-1) beat Mustangs (2-2) on the road 81-75. The guests were already 16 points ahead at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 34-23 last quarter charge of Mustangs cut the lead to 81-75 at the end of the game. Mustangs were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Sebastian Koch (202-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Croatian center Marko Moric (205-81) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Blackbirds players scored in double figures. Blackbirds' coach Daniel Muellner allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Thomas Morwitzer (198-92) replied with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Czech swingman Michal Jedovnicky (194-95) added 19 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Mustangs. Blackbirds have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Mustangs at the other side keep the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with UBC and Lions. Blackbirds will play against league's leader Raiders in Villach in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mustangs will play on the road against Rocks (#4) in Mattersburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
