There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (2-2) defeated at home 9th ranked Afyon Bld (1-2) 86-70 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: BeoBasket) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Jamelle Hagins (206-90, college: Delaware) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Afyon Bld's coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Afyon Bld dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face Galatasaray (#13) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Afyon Bld will play at home against Istanbul BBSK and hope to win that game.
