An interesting game took place in Heidelberg where higher ranked Artland Dragons (3-3) were upset on the court of thirteenth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (2-3) 101-79. MLP Academics Heidelberg well out of reach of Artland Dragons shooting 72.0 percent from the field and made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. MLP Academics Heidelberg players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Artland Dragons helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory with 28 points (on 10-of-7 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Jaleen Smith (193-94, college: New Hampshire) contributed with 18 points and 4 steals for the winners. American guard Pierre Bland (188-92, college: PFW) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and swingman Eric Curth (193-92) added 14 points in the effort for Artland Dragons. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Walter Tigers and Kirchheim. Artland Dragons lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Gladiators in Trier and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
