There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Coburg (1-5) was edged at home by twelfth ranked Loewen (1-5) 77-76 on Sunday. Loewen outrebounded Coburg 34-23 including 21 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Guard David Taylor (190-95, college: Pacific) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Chase Adams (177-88, college: Pittsburgh) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and French guard Kevin Franceschi (191-93, college: Oklah.Baptist) added 19 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Loewen left bottom position moving up to ninth place in South, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Coburg. Loewen will face higher ranked Giessen 46ers II (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
