Regular Season Round 7: Mannheim - Speyer 61-85

Date: October 28, 2018
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Speyer (5-1) crushed on the road 9th ranked Mannheim (2-4) 85-61 on Sunday. Speyer dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Mannheim's 28. Speyer forced 22 Mannheim turnovers and outrebounded them 44-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for British center Kingsley Nwagboso (213-96, college: Francis Marion) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Alexander Kuhn (198-92) answered with 22 points and David Scheffels (200-96) added 4 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Mannheim. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Speyer keeps a position of South-West leader, which they share with Koblenz. Mannheim lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Speyer will face Karlsruhe SC (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mannheim will play against Giessen Pointers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
