Regular Season Round 5: Chemnitz - Keltern 59-92

There was no surprise when 11th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (1-5) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Gruner Stern Keltern (3-3) 92-59 on Sunday. Gruner Stern Keltern forced 21 ChemCats Chemnitz turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Gruner Stern Keltern especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was Canadian power forward Kim Pierre-Louis (183-93, college: Massachusetts) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Mante Kvederaviciute (180-90) chipped in 18 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Four Gruner Stern Keltern players scored in double figures. Gruner Stern Keltern's coach Christian Hergenroether felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Czech point guard Andrea Andelova (172-94) produced 21 points and Klara Brichacova added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hannover. ChemCats Chemnitz lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Gruner Stern Keltern will face Braunschweig (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
