Regular Season Round 5: Tofas - Arel Univ. 85-64

The game between third ranked Arel Univ (2-2) and fourth ranked Tofas (3-1) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Arel Univ was crushed by Tofas on the road 85-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Arel Univ. They outrebounded Arel Univ 45-31 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tofas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Emirhan Merdin (195-1) stepped up and scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Bora Satir (190-2) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Aydin Tayfur (-0) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and forward Emincan Inan (196-0) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Arel Univ players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tofas moved-up to third place. Arel Univ at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Tofas are looking forward to face league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arel Univ's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Anadolu Efes.
