Regular Season Round 7: Oradea - Rapid 70-73

The most exciting game of round 7 in the Liga Nationala took place in Oradea. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of much higher ranked Oradea (2-2) to fifth ranked Rapid Bucuresti (3-3) 73-70 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Oradea. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Oradea was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Rapid Bucuresti, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Oradea turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for center Roxana Bejan (187) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Florina Stanici (170-82) helped adding 14 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Rapid Bucuresti players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Ioana Gavra (179-90) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Andreea Mititelu (-0) scored 20 points. Rapid Bucuresti moved-up to second place. Oradea at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Sirius TgM and Agronomia. Rapid Bucuresti will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Oradea will play on the road against Targu Secuiesc and is hoping to win this game.
