Regular Season Round 9: Gargzdu - Palanga 80-77

The most exciting game of round 9 in the NKL took place in Gargzdai. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Palanga (5-2) to eighth ranked Gargzdu (5-4) 80-77 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Palanga. It was a good game for Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Vaidotas Peciukas (198-82, college: Hawaii) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Gargzdu's coach Simonas Serapinas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Grantas Vasiliauskas (204-99) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and forward Mykolas Dieninis (197-97) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Palanga. Four Gargzdu and five Palanga players scored in double figures. Gargzdu moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Perlas. Palanga at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Gargzdu is looking forward to face Perlas (#7) in Vilnius in the next round. Palanga will play at home against Delikatesas (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
