Regular Season Round 6: Crailsheim - Vechta 68-70

A very interesting game took place in Crailsheim. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 17th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (1-6) to eleventh ranked SC Rasta Vechta (3-3) 70-68 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. SC Rasta Vechta dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Crailsheim Merlins' 22. SC Rasta Vechta forced 23 Crailsheim Merlins turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for guard TJ Bray (196-92, college: Princeton) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Seth Hinrichs (201-93, college: Lafayette) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Pedro Calles used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Dewayne Russell (180-94, college: Grand Canyon) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports) added 10 points in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. SC Rasta Vechta have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bremerhaven and Telekom Bsk. Crailsheim Merlins lost third consecutive game. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the seventeenth position with six games lost. SC Rasta Vechta's next round opponent will be league's second-placed ALBA Berlin at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Crailsheim Merlins will play against Telekom Baskets (#8) in Bonn and hope to win that game.
