Regular Season Round 5: Buyukcekmece - Besiktas 69-79

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Buyukcekmece (3-2) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Besiktas (3-2) 79-69 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American-Israeli power forward Joe Alexander (203-86, college: W.Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (208-91) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Besiktas players scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Dusko Ivanovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Kenny Hayes (186-87, college: Miami, OH, agency: BeoBasket) produced 20 points and 5 assists and the other American import center Devin Williams (206-94, college: W.Virginia) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Besiktas moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Buyukcekmece. Besiktas will face Afyon Bld (#14) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Buyukcekmece will play on the road against Gaziantep (#9) and hope to win that game.
