Regular Season Round 7: Schwabach - Speyer 80-86
Date: November 3, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Schwabach (2-4) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (3-2) 86-80 on Saturday. Australian center Jessie Edwards (192-95, college: Minnesota) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners. Forward Philippa Faul (181-95) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Brooke LeMar (168-91, college: N.Dakota St.) produced 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Lea Vatthauer (184-90) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Schwabach's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Speyer / Schifferstadt have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Jahn Muenchen. Newly promoted Schwabach keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt will have a break next round. Schwabach will play on the road against the league's second-placed BasCats Heidelberg (#2) and hope to win that game.
