Regular Season Round 10: Jonava - Neptunas-Akv. 87-97

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Neptunas-Akv. (6-3) defeated on the road 8th ranked Jonava (4-6) 97-87 on Saturday. Neptunas-Akv. shot 65.5 percent from the field. Neptunas-Akv. had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Tadas Pazera (194-98) chipped in 22 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Five Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. Neptunas-Akv.'s coach Tomas Gaidamavicius used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-95, college: Ark.-Fort Smith) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Neptunas-Akv. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Zalgiris II and Suduva-Mantinga. Loser Jonava dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will face Silute (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Jonava will play against Gargzdu (#8) in Gargzdai and hope to win that game.
