Regular Season Round 7: Trier - Heidelberg 59-67

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Gladiators (5-2) against eleventh ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (3-3) on Saturday night. Host Gladiators were defeated by MLP Academics Heidelberg in a tough game in Trier 59-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gladiators. Worth to mention a great performance of center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Forward Till Gloger (204-93, college: Maine) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Jamaican-Canadian forward Jermaine Bucknor (201-83, college: Richmond) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Gladiators. Gladiators' coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Schalke and Kirchheim. Gladiators at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against Schalke (#9) at home in the next round. Gladiators will play against Lions (#13) in Karlsruhe and hope to get back on the winning track.
