Regular Season Round 7: Itzehoe - Bernau 76-97

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked SSV Lok Bernau (3-4) crushed on the road 5th ranked Itzehoe (3-4) 97-76 on Saturday. SSV Lok Bernau made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Itzehoe turnovers and had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. SSV Lok Bernau looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Itzehoe was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for point guard Bennet Hundt (178-98, college: High School) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 assists. The former international Nicolai Simon (190-87) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four SSV Lok Bernau players scored in double figures. Johannes Konradt (199-95) answered with 24 points and American guard Anthony McDonald (185-92, college: N.C.Central) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for Itzehoe. Itzehoe's coach Patrick Elzie gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. SSV Lok Bernau moved-up to sixth place in North, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Itzehoe. SSV Lok Bernau will face league's leader Iserlohn at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
