Regular Season Round 6: Cherkasy - Kyiv Basket 77-80

A very close game took place in Cherkasy between Kyiv Basket and Cherkasy. Fifth ranked Kyiv Basket (5-3) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Cherkasy (1-4). Kyiv Basket managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-77. American guard Maurice Creek (196-90, college: G.Washington) notched 23 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and international power forward Viacheslav Petrov (204-94, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) supported him with 13 points. Even a double-double of 18 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists by American forward Chris Cokley (203-96, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Cherkasy. Swingman Ivan Tkachenko (197-97) added 15 points. Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Dnipro and Khimik. Cherkasy lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Kyiv Basket will meet at home Odessa (#5) in the next round. Cherkasy will play against the league's second-placed Khimik and hope to win that game.
