No shocking result in a game in Quakenbrueck where third ranked Hamburg (5-1) defeated 10th ranked Artland Dragons (3-4) 80-73 on Sunday. Hamburg dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Artland Dragons' 26. Hamburg forced 21 Artland Dragons turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Andrew Barham (198-89, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Afghani point guard Achmadschah Zazai (177-86) helped adding 14 points and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the losing side American guard Chase Griffin (190-83, college: Pepperdine) responded with 19 points and the other American import guard Pierre Bland (188-92, college: PFW) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Artland Dragons' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hamburg moved-up to second place. Artland Dragons lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Uni Baskets and Ehingen. Hamburg will meet at home Ehingen/Urspringschule (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Artland Dragons will play against Uni Baskets in Paderborn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
