Regular Season Round 5: Young Dragons - AB Baskets 81-86

An interesting game for AB Baskets (6-0) which played road game in Quakenbrueck against 3rd placed Young Dragons (3-3). Leader AB Baskets managed to get a 5-point victory 86-81. AB Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Young Dragons' 28. AB Baskets forced 30 Young Dragons turnovers and had a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Young Dragons were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Leonard Hampl (202-1) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds. Max Stoelzel (198-0) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Radii Caisin (195-1) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and Samuel Schmedes (198-0) added 22 points in the effort for Young Dragons. Four Young Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for AB Baskets. They maintain first place in Group 1 with 6-0 record. Young Dragons lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with three games lost. AB Baskets will have a break next round. Young Dragons will play on the road against Piraten in Hamburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
