Regular Season Round 9: Mariupol - Zolotoi Vek 100-96

Bottom-ranked Zolotoi Vek (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 100-96 loss to fifth ranked Mariupol (5-3) in Mariupol on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. The best player for the winners was guard Kirilo Zuev (196-93) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Ivan Mikhyeyev (190-99) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Olexandr Drobiazko (200-93) who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) and guard Yuriy Kramar (191-95) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mariupol. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Politekhn.Lvov. Zolotoi Vek lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Mariupol will have a break next round. Zolotoi Vek will play on the road against Kremen (#7) in Kremenchuk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
