Regular Season Round 5: Mazeikiu SM - Perkunas 100-105

An interesting game for Perkunas (5-0) which played road game in Mazeikiai against 4th placed Mazeikiu SM (3-2). Leader Perkunas managed to get a 5-point victory 105-100. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 105-100. Perkunas dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Mazeikiu SM's 50. They outrebounded Mazeikiu SM 38-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Aristidas Koncius (193-1) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Forward Gabrielius Celka (198-1) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Jokubas Rubinas (191-2) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all seven shots !!!) and center Lukas Valantinas (207-1) added 22 points in the effort for Mazeikiu SM. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mazeikiu SM's coach Vidmantas Bertys rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Perkunas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Siauliu and Vilniaus Silputa. Mazeikiu SM at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Perkunas is looking forward to face Sostines (#11) in Vilniaus in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mazeikiu SM will play at home against the league's second-placed Siauliu (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
