Regular Season Round 4: Mersin BSB - Canik Belediye 90-70

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Canik Belediye (2-3) was smashed on the road by seventh ranked Mersin BSB (2-3) 90-70 on Sunday. Mersin BSB made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Canik Belediye turnovers. Strangely Canik Belediye outrebounded Mersin BSB 43-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for American-Romanian power forward Ashley Walker (187-87, college: California) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Tiffany Mitchell (175-94, college: S.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Sequoia Holmes (183-86, college: UNLV) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and Italian-Australian guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington) added 22 points and 6 assists in the effort for Canik Belediye. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mersin BSB maintains seventh position with 2-3 record, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Canik Belediye. Canik Belediye lost third consecutive game. Mersin BSB will face higher ranked Besiktas (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
