Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Goettingen and 9th ranked Fireballs had identical 2-4 record. This time Goettingen used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Bad Aibling 74-58 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-58. Goettingen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Fireballs' 24. Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Cori Coleman (173-93, college: Cleveland St.) supported her with 15 points. Goettingen's coach Giannis Koukos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Destinee Young (185-95, college: ODU) did not help to save the game for Fireballs. The former international point guard Lena-Marie Bradaric (166-93) added 16 points and 5 assists. Goettingen (3-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hannover. Fireballs lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Goettingen will meet league's second-placed Herner TC on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fireballs will play against Gruner Stern Keltern (#5) and hope to secure a win.
