Regular Season Round 5: KOS - Flames 75-96

Everything could happen in Klagenfurt at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Flames and 10th ranked KOS had identical 1-3 record. But KOS was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Vienna 96-75. The game was mostly controlled by Flames. KOS was better in third quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Flames shot 31 for 43 from the free-throw line, while KOS only scored ten points from the stripe. 33 personal fouls committed by KOS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was naturalized Argentinian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82, agency: Promotex) chipped in 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Flames' coach Franz Zderadicka felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Slovenian forward Lovro Fizuleto (200-92) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and Slovenian point guard Jan Razdevsek (185-0) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four KOS players scored in double figures. Flames (2-3) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mustangs. KOS at the other side keeps the tenth position with four games lost. Flames' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Deutsch-Wagram (#12) at home. KOS will play against BBU in Salzburg and hope to win that game.
