Regular Season Round 6: Afyon - Gelisim Koleji 53-101

Bottom-ranked Afyon (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 101-53 loss to fifth ranked Ozel Gelisim Koleji (4-2) in on Monday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Afyon's 24 and had 24 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Afyon only scored eight points from the stripe. Ozel Gelisim Koleji forced 32 Afyon turnovers and outrebounded them 46-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Afyon was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Arda Korkmaz (-0) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Atahan Demirtas (-0) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ozel Gelisim Koleji players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Semih Bayezit (-1) who recorded 12 points and Alperen Erten (-1) added 10 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ozel Gelisim Koleji have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with TED Ankara. Loser Afyon still closes the standings with six games lost. Ozel Gelisim Koleji will have a break next round.
