Regular Season Round 5: Tornado KM - Vilniaus KM II 82-91

Everything could happen in Kaunas at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Vilniaus KM II and 10th ranked Tornado KM had identical 1-3 record. But Tornado KM was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Vilniaus 91-82 on Tuesday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tornado KM won third quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Vilniaus KM II won last quarter 26-18. Vilniaus KM II outrebounded Tornado KM 48-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Augustinas Mikstas (198-1) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists. Mantas Bilotas (-1) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Gytis Macionis (192-1) answered with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Laurynas Virbalas added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Tornado KM. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vilniaus KM II (2-3) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Panevezio and Silutes SM. Loser Tornado KM dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Vilniaus KM II will face Panevezio (#6) at home in the next round. Tornado KM's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris U18.
