Date: November 6, 2018
Important game to mention about took place in Kastrup. Second ranked Amager (3-1) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Stevnsgade (1-3) 67-66 on Tuesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Stevnsgade took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Amager had a 20-9 second period charge getting the lead and Stevnsgade was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-67. Amager dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Stevnsgade's 20. They outrebounded Stevnsgade 40-28 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Valerie Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds and point guard Julie Jungslund (165-98) supported her with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Amager players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 7 rebounds by the former international forward Hanna Sheikh (180-92) did not help to save the game for Stevnsgade. The former international forward Ena Viso (179-93, college: S.Dakota St.) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Stevnsgade's coach Hrannar Holm tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Amager have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Amager maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Horsholm. Stevnsgade at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Lemvig and Vaerlose. Amager will play against Lemvig (#6) on the road in the next round. Stevnsgade will play against SISU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
