Regular Season Round 7: Politekhnik - Mykolaiv 75-77

A very interesting game took place in Kharkiv. It ended with only two-point home defeat of bottom-ranked Politekhnik (0-9) to sixth ranked Mykolaiv (4-5) 77-75 on Wednesday evening. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 21-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Mykolaiv dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnik's 24. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Sergei Popov (196-88) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 8 rebounds. Nigerian-Russian center Aleksey Adediran (201-82, college: Binghamton) contributed with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Mykolaiv's coach Vitaliy Cherniy used entire bench in such tough game. American guard T.J. Cromer (190-95, college: E.Tenn.St.) answered with 28 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import point guard Jawan Davis (184-89, college: Claflin) added 17 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Politekhnik. Mykolaiv maintains sixth place with 4-5 record. Politekhnik at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Mykolaiv's next round opponent will be Cherkasy (#7) at home. Politekhnik will play against Odessa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
