Very predictable result in Kharkiv where first ranked Zaporizhye (7-3) smashed bottom-ranked Politekhnik (0-9) 95-74 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-74. Zaporizhye shot 26 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Politekhnik only scored six points from the stripe. Zaporizhye forced 25 Politekhnik turnovers. Politekhnik was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Kyndahl Hill (201-94, college: Weber St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Malique Trent (189-94, college: Hampton) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. Zaporizhye's coach Valeriy Plehanov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Jawan Davis (184-89, college: Claflin) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Roman Kozlov (190-90) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Politekhnik players scored in double figures. Zaporizhye maintains first place with 7-3 record, which they share with Dnipro and Khimik. Loser Politekhnik still closes the standings with nine games lost. Zaporizhye will face Kyiv Basket (#4) at home in the next round. Politekhnik will play against Odessa (#5) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
