Regular Season Round 7: Dnipro - Mykolaiv 74-65
Date: November 9, 2018
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Mykolaiv (4-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Dnipro (7-3) 74-65 on Friday. Mykolaiv trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 23-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 65-74 at the end of the game. Dnipro made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Mykolaiv turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (204-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 4 steals. The former international center Kyrylo Fesenko (216-86) helped adding 9 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international guard Sergei Popov (196-88) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-96) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dnipro have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Zaporizhye and Khimik. Loser Mykolaiv keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Dnipro will face Khimik (#3) in Yuzhny in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mykolaiv will play at home against Cherkasy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
