Regular Season Round 9: Rendsburg - Aschersleben 79-76

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Rendsburg (5-4) edged at home 9th ranked Aschersleben (3-5) 79-76 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was American forward Pierce Cumpstone (203-94, college: Stonehill) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Henning Rixen (196-99) chipped in 19 points. Rendsburg's coach Bjarne Homfeldt allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Kendal Williams (183-92, college: Delaware St.) who recorded 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Sebastian Harke (204-81) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rendsburg. They maintain fifth place in North with 5-4 record, which they share with Stade. Aschersleben lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Rendsburg will face higher ranked Langenhagen (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aschersleben will play against WSG Koenigs (#7) in Wildau and hope to win that game.
