Regular Season Round 12: Taurages - Ezerunas 66-86

Bottom-ranked Ezerunas managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled thirteenth-ranked Taurages 86-66. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that Ezerunas is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. And what about a second win in a row after ...eight consecutive losses. Ezerunas dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Taurages' 26. The winners were led by swingman Kostas Jonuska (195-92) who scored that evening 23 points and Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ezerunas players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) did not help to save the game for Taurages. Point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) added 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ezerunas maintains fifteenth position with 2-8 record. Taurages lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with KTU. Ezerunas will meet at home higher ranked Palanga (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Taurages will play against the league's second-placed Vytis (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
