Regular Season Round 9: Goldbach - Ansbach 63-73

Very expected game when 14th ranked Goldbach (1-7) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Ansbach (5-3) 73-63 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American forward Steven Ward (200-87, college: Three Rivers CC) who scored 23 points. Forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian Tadas Jagela (190-93) who recorded 22 points and 5 steals and Malony Fernandes added 5 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ansbach moved-up to third place in South-East. Goldbach lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Ansbach will face Treuchtlingen (#5) in Treutchlingen in the next round. Goldbach will play on the road against Rosenheim (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
