Regular Season Round 5: Cukurova - Kircicegi B. 105-54

An interesting game for Cukurova (5-0) which hosted in Mersin 4th placed Kircicegi B. (0-5). Leader Cukurova had an easy win 105-54. Cukurova dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Kircicegi B.'s 36. Cukurova forced 26 Kircicegi B. turnovers and outrebounded them 47-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Kircicegi B.'s players. Cukurova brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Forward Meltem Avci (185-97, agency: FlyBasketball) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and international guard Pelin Bilgic (175-94, agency: FlyBasketball) chipped in 15 points and 9 assists. Four Cukurova players scored in double figures. American center Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-94, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Halime Vural (-98) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cukurova have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Hatay. Newly promoted Kircicegi B. still keeps top with five games lost. They share the position with Istanbul Univ.. Cukurova will play against league's leader Istanbul Uni on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kircicegi B. will play against Ormanspor and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
