Regular Season Round 9: HAKRO Merlins II - Langen 108-105

There was a surprise result in Crailsheim where thirteenth ranked HAKRO Merlins II (2-6) edged higher ranked TV Langen (3-5) 108-105 on Saturday. HAKRO Merlins II made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was British guard Liam Carpenter (187-96) who scored 44 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Greek forward Antonis Sivorotka (204-85) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Christopher Edward (201, college: Concordia, OR) who recorded a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and forward Chris Reinhardt (202-88) added 14 points and 10 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HAKRO Merlins II moved-up to twelfth place in South-West, which they share with Kronberg and Mannheim. TV Langen lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. HAKRO Merlins II will face higher ranked Stuttgart (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
