Regular Season Round 9: Treuchtlingen - Vilsbiburg 91-81

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Vilsbiburg (4-4) against eighth ranked Treuchtlingen (4-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Vilsbiburg was defeated by Treuchtlingen in Treutchlingen 91-81. Treuchtlingen players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Vilsbiburg's players. 27 personal fouls committed by Vilsbiburg helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Stefan Schmoll (196-89) nailed 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and guard Tim Eisenberger (197-91) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Italian-Slovenian center Davor Barovic (211-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Grant Corsi (196-94, college: Trinity Intern.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Vilsbiburg in the defeat. Four Treuchtlingen and five Vilsbiburg players scored in double figures. Vilsbiburg's coach Marc Vilas rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Treuchtlingen moved-up to fourth place in South-East, which they share with Schwabing. Vilsbiburg at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Treuchtlingen's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ansbach (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vilsbiburg will play against Herzogenaurach and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
