Regular Season Round 7: Brose Bask. - Giessen 46ers 109-101

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Giessen 46ers (5-2) against fourth ranked Brose Baskets (5-1) on Sunday night. Visiting Giessen 46ers were defeated by Brose Baskets in a tough game in Bamberg 101-109. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Giessen 46ers. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Brose Baskets made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Giessen 46ers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 assists. American Augustine Rubit (200-89, college: S.Alabama) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Brose Baskets' coach Ainars Bagatskis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center John Bryant (211-87, college: Santa Clara) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Giessen 46ers. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Brose Baskets moved-up to second place, which they share with ALBA. Giessen 46ers at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Brose Baskets will play against league's second-placed ALBA Berlin on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Giessen 46ers will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners and hope to get back on the winning track.
