Regular Season Round 9: Schalke - Karlsruhe PS 81-75

Date: November 11, 2018
Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Schalke (4-4) defeated at home 14th ranked Lions (2-7) 81-75 on Sunday. They outrebounded Lions 33-21 including a 24-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lions were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Bjoern Rohwer (213-95) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists. Four Schalke players scored in double figures. Schalke's coach Raphael Wilder allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Orlando Parker (203-91, college: Wagner) with 25 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kahron Ross (180-95, college: Lehigh) scored 8 points and 8 assists. Schalke moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Heidelberg. Loser Lions dropped to the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Schalke will face league's second-placed Hamburg on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lions will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#7) and hope to win that game.
