Regular Season Round 6: Bahcesehir - Fenerbahce 77-84

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Acibadem (#7). Acibadem was defeated at home 77-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Acibadem's 18. It was a good game for Czech power forward Jan Vesely (213-90) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds. French power forward Joffrey Lauvergne (210-91, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Spanish point guard Joaquin Colom (188-88, college: Forca Lleida, agency: Interperformances) replied with 21 points and 6 assists and the former international swingman Emir Preldzic (206-87, agency: BeoBasket) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Acibadem. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Newly promoted Acibadem dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Fenerbahce will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Acibadem will play on the road against Turk Telekom (#6) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
