An interesting game took place in Hagen where higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (4-4) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Phoenix Hagen (2-6) 78-72 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MLP Academics Heidelberg. Phoenix Hagen shot 60.4 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Alex Herrera (206-92, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Two Points) stepped up and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and forward Javon Baumann (203-92, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Phoenix Hagen's coach Kevin Magdowski used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) scored 10 points. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to fourteenth place. Loser MLP Academics Heidelberg dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Phoenix Hagen will face higher ranked Rostock (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
