Regular Season Round 9: Mannheim - Kaiserslautern 60-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Kaiserslautern and 12th ranked Mannheim had identical 2-5 record. But Mannheim was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Kaiserslautern 76-60 on Sunday night. Kaiserslautern forced 22 Mannheim turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Isaah Negron (170-99) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. American forward John Barber (200-85, college: Youngstown St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Barber is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the other side the best for losing team was center Max Bohrmann (207-91) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and David Scheffels (200-96) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Mannheim's coach Peter Eberhardt tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Kaiserslautern (3-5) moved-up to eighth place in South-West, which they share with 3 other teams. Mannheim lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. Kaiserslautern will face league's second-placed Speyer at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mannheim will play against Mainz (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
