Undefeated Voluntari (5-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were edged by second ranked Medias (4-1) in overtime 87-84. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Voluntari. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests were ahead by 8 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 16-10 run, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-15. Medias forced 19 Voluntari turnovers. Strangely Voluntari outrebounded Medias 46-30 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian Andrija Simovic (203-95) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Medias players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Svetozar Popovic (195-87, agency: Mansfield and Associates) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Aron Nwankwo (202-92, college: Pittsburgh) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Voluntari's coach Eugen Ilie tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Medias have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Medias maintains second position with 4-1 record having five points less than leader Voluntari. Voluntari at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with Craiova. Medias will play against Braila (#4) at home in the next round. Voluntari will have a break next round.
